There’s something uniquely tender about photographing a newborn in their own home. The pace is slower, the atmosphere more relaxed, and every little moment – every yawn, stretch, and sleepy smile – feels deeply personal.
Baby Holland was just days old when I met her. Tiny and calm, she spent most of our time together curled up in her parents’ arms, peacefully snoozing through it all. You could feel how much love surrounded her. Mom and Dad couldn’t stop looking at her in awe. This was their first girl.
One of my favorite things about in-home newborn sessions is how much they reflect real life. There’s no studio setup, no pressure. Just your family, in your space, with all the little details that make it yours.
Holland’s nursery was a perfect reflection of that love and care. A brass crib stood beneath dreamy, dusty pink curtains. Woodland creatures peeked out from bookshelves filled with baby books, while handmade quilts, tiny sweaters, and soft shoes filled the room with warmth. The textures, the colors, the natural elements all came together to create something playful, beautiful, and entirely hers.
And then there was their golden retriever. Calm, gentle, and already so loyal. She stayed close through every photo, sometimes quietly watching, other times snuggling in. One of my favorite moments was when he curled up next to Holland all on his own – just the two of them. It was clear she knew she was part of his pack now.
We finished the session in the living room, with the whole family tucked together on the couch. No posing needed – just quiet joy, soft blankets, and the kind of love that fills a home to its corners.
